Synopsis
A peaceful kitchen is turned on its head when its QUEEN is tragically damaged and sent to the foundry for RECYCLING. BARTON, a crooked RICHMOND FISH KNIFE, seizes the opportunity to take the kitchen and rid it of its inferior STRATFORD CUTLERY. The STRATFORDS only hope is JONNY, an abandoned TABLESPOON. JONNY will need to summon all of his courage to overcome his fears and embark on a treacherous journey to the FOUNDRY to return the QUEEN before BARTON can complete his evil plan!
ACT 1 - The Last Dance
All eyes are on JONNY spinning Bacon FORK! Spin-Spin-Spin---FWOOOMP! The BACON WRAP COMES OFF in JONNY’S hand and Bacon FORK goes hurtling into the crowd, scattering them like bowling pins. MIA’S anger melts as she gazes at this cocky, mysterious SPOON. Music swells as their world SLOWS DOWN. JONNY looks strong-jawed and heroic. There’s something about him, a rebellious streak? There’s a magnetic connection between them.
The Engagement
BARTON - "ONE DAY I WILL RULE THIS KITCHEN... (softening) A KING needs a QUEEN by his side. Someone worthy, that ticks all the right boxes."
ACT 2 - The Brawl
CRASH... SPIN, SPIN, SPIN... JONNY is hit and his lifeless body is thrown across the floor. Meanwhile, the CLEANERS draw up on opposite sides, revving their motors, ready to finish the job... and CHARGE... building speed. Just as they’re about to hit, MIA pushes back on a rubber-band and catapults herself to JONNY, pulling him out in the nick of time, as the CLEANERS COLLIDE and EXPLODE, sending our hero's hurtling off. Dark muttering arise from the crowd. Whatever momentary fellowship has been extinguished.
ACT 3 - The Last Stand
BARTON appears on the COUNTER TOP. A line of RICHMOND BLADES step into view behind BARTON. JONNY and BARTON joust. SMASH - it’s a big impact and JONNY looks shaken. BARTON is loving this, he turns to go again before JONNY is ready. BARTON slugs JONNY and gets enough room to pull out his CORK SCREW... drained, unarmed and no way to escape, JONNY is resigned to his fate... BARTON raises his CORK SCREW and prepares to strike...
